A cover letter is your introduction with your outlined credentials together with your resume. It is basically a short story of your experiences which will set you apart from the other applicants. This should be written short and simple, using a readable font.
Let me help you on how you’ll make your cover letter that will get noticed. OPENING. Create an opening that will get their interest to read further of your cover letter. Avoid using an opening with “I’m interested”, instead use an opening that states your enthusiasm in being part of the company. Including referrals on how you come to know about the company and the open position is a plus. CONTACT PERSON. Address your cover letter specifically to the hiring manager. Instead of writing “Dear sir/Madam”, write specifically the name of who will it be addressed to. He/she will be the one to read it and will decide if you’ll get an interview. COMPLEMENT YOUR RESUME. Expand what is written in your resume and not repeat it. Tackle further your responsibilities and accomplishments. Elaborate your credentials. Emphasize your personality, skills and work ethics. IT IS WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR THE COMPANY AND NOT WHAT THE COMPANY CAN DO FOR YOU. This, you should not forget. Impress them by highlighting your appropriate experiences for the position that you have worked on and succeeded. TREAT YOUR WEAKNESS AS YOUR STRENGTH. You may lack enough experience for the specific position which is a weakness on your part but do not treat it as one. Instead, turn it into a possible strength by giving your follow up plan on how you would handle such a situation. READ AND ReREAD. Your cover letter will say more about you even before you get an interview. You have to give attention to details. Check for typo errors, grammars and spellings that you may have gotten wrong. It is also helpful for you to have someone to read your cover letter. Get their honest opinion if they’ll be the one to hire you.

Today, everyone is trying to fit in with the new normal set up. Business transactions are now made online, doing almost everything contactless. Companies are now more open to practice the work from home set up for their employees and taking advantage of it. But somehow, others are being skeptical if it will work and how it will become their advantage.
Here, I have listed some of its advantages that may help you through. Money Saving Working from home lets you spend less for your transportation and meal allowance. With this, you will not have to worry about your fare, fuel, and parking fees. You will not also be tempted to eat expensive lunches and more importantly is that you’ll have to eat together with your family. No Traffic Stress One factor of burned out employees is traffic. This makes you more stressed and less productive. Now, without this, you will have enough time to rest and do your work with a clear mind. Gives not only you the satisfaction of your work but your employer’s as well. Flexible Working Hours You are given flexible working hours wherein you can work at a longer or shorter time. Even with this opportunity, you need to have proper time management too. Prioritizing what needs to be done first to avoid getting off track with such freedom. Do not forget your deadlines. Reduce Inequalities This will benefit those who are physically handicapped and not academically qualified for office positions that are discreetly oozing with talent. This may be their time to shine without the burden of going to offices and get rejected with the qualifications that they don’t have. Customised Working Environment What is more inspiring to get your work done is having a comfortable workplace to do it. You can create your own haven at your home with the fixtures of your taste and that you are comfortable to use. You can design your ‘office’ as gaily as you like or as professional as you want it to be. Working from home is an opportunity for you to have a better work life balance, a healthier and happier one too. Grab it and take it to your career advancement as we all continue to look positively beyond this new normal. |
